NETGEAR ReadyNAS NVX Pioneer Edition + Network management card, IP problem.

This question was originally posted by sindre on APC forums on 3/17/2010

Hello guys.

Im having some problems getting the network card to work.
It´s connected too our LAN but when i try to run the IP wizard it does not find the UPS.
When i check my cisco router i see that a new IP is added when i connect the network cable too it so it´s getting a IP.
I also notice that it has 3 blinking orange light and a green light that goes on and off. So i suppose something is wrong.
Anyone have some pointers on how is should proceed. Im mainly running this in a OSX enviorment. Tried the IP wizard on a XP machine though.

Thanks.

to elaborate on what buzz said, the device IP wizard goes out and finds UNCONFIGURED cards that are doing DHCP/BOOTP requests and will help you assign IP settings to the network management card for the first time.

i would try pinging the IP address that you see is taken and if that works, just enter the IP address in a web browser and see if anything comes up.

Which card is this? It might have already pulled an IP address, though knowing which LED is blinking green/orange would help (one is status, one is link).

The IP wizard is for configuring a card to have an IP address, so if it already has an IP address, the wizard won't find it. You could try accessing that new IP address you see. (On a side note, you have to be on the same subnet for the IP wizard to work, too.)

If that doesn't pull up the card's web interface, you can use the serial cable that came with it to configure/discover the card's IP address.
