The MGE NMC has a MAC address on the front of the card. To figure your IP do the following.

The standard IP is 172.17.xxx.yyy

a common mac address on one of the cards would look like : 00 E0 D8 LL MM NN

xxx is the mm byte

yyy is the nn byte

On your PC calculator you have to do a hex to dec conversion.

So in Calc select Hex and type in whatever bit MM is on the front of your card, then click on dec and that will be the xxx bit.

Do the same for nn.

then goto cmd prompt and telnet. 172.17.xxx.yyy.

Or you can just do what erasmus said to do but he forgot one important thing. The password is MGEUPS in caps.

Hi,

It would help to know which card is installed in your Galaxy 5000...as there are a few cards that could potentially work with the system. Could you provide that information please?

Generally, you will need to hook up the RS232 cable that was provided with the UPS to a RS232 port on your UPS Network Card, and use the following settings to log in via Hyperterminal:

Baud: 9600 (also try 2400 for some cards)
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None

Once you have logged in, select option 1 for "Agent Configuration" and you will see the current IP of the system, and also be able to configure the TCP/IP settings for the card.
