Console Port Server AP9302

This was originally posted on APC forums on 8/6/2008

Hi Guys,

Just trying to configure a APC Console Port Server Model: AP3902.

I have connected a cable from a port (port 16) Too a Cisco 3600 Series Router.

When i attempt to connect to this router over the web interface or via ssh, all i dont get any output other than the following:

Welcome to Console Port Server C2Serial-APC-LHR port S014

C2Serial-APC-LHR login: root
Password: ***

The port Mode is in Console Raw, i have also tried others. Any ideas whats wrong? Or what i should try next, as i'm completely lost..

Thanks

Tom

Here's a link to the document with all the adapters on it.

To connect to a server's serial port, the db9 female - rj45 crossover adapter should work

Right, sounds like it's just the cabling issue. Unfortunately I can't give out the pinouts for that adapter, but you can certainly purchase it off the site.

What exactly is this cable you are running from the CPS to the router?

I have tried CrossOver/Straight Through/Roll over.....

I believe that I'm using an incorrect cable? As i found http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9315

Wondering if if anyone knows the pin configuration, so i can create a direct cat5 cable that goes from the console port too the APC without this adaptor.

Thanks

Tom
