Code 0x0002 Severe - System: Warmstart

This was originally posted on APC forums on 6/17/2013

Hello,

We recently started getting warmstart messages on an AP7750 with Firmware 1.10 using an AP9617 NMC (Serial: BA0827013924, Hardware Rev: A10, ATS Ver 261, AOS Ver 264). As far as I can tell, these are Gen 1 products and no further firmware will be created for them.

We are getting emails with this information:

{

v1

Name     : ATS-4

Location :

Contact  :

http://

Serial

# : BA0827013924

Date: 06/13/2013

Time:

13:39:12

Code: 0x0002

Severe - System: Warmstart.

}

I need help on how to address this, as all of our ATS and NMC use the same firmware, and there have been no network changes I am aware of that would case this to occur. None of the previous discussions I have seen for my type of NMC and ATS have been helpful, as of this time.

I think the problem is the firmware on these is really old and it is not the hardware, but something specific that this device is seeing on the network or some specific corruption on this unit only. I suppose something could be corrupted on the flash of the card but I don't think it is likely. I won't argue with you that a hardware problem is possible but this is built in as a failsafe luckily so that the card is able to reset itself rather than you have to go power cycle it while we're figuring this out.

Anyway, if it were me, I'd reset it to defaults again and not touch it to see if it stops (maybe let it run all day or overnight temporarily) and maybe just configure your notifications and see if any change before resorting to replacing the management card in it.

If anything, I think this would be a firmware issue but I am not completely ruling out a hardware thing but in my experience, I don't think it is likely.
