Can't set IP on 9617 Network Cards

This question was originally posted by Bill on APC forums on 1/28/2016

I bought a few used 9617 network management cards, but I can't seem to set the IP on them.

I get a green status light on the two I tried, but the utility software cannot find them and they don't show up in my router.

I tried arp  in Linux and Windows and it seemed to work, but when I try to Ping with 113 bytes of data it times out. I turned off the firewall in Windows, but it did not make a difference.

Any bright ideas? I might try a different UPS, but I don't think that's the issue. I gather I can connect the card directly to my laptop and try the utility software from there?

TIA

Problem solved, I was able to get in through Putty once I remembered to turn off PowerChute. The default password was changed and the IP was some corporate IP range. So it's no wonder the utility could not find it, but I still don't know why arp  did not work. Anyway I'm able to get in through the browser now, so on to the next problem of setting up my Linux boxes to talk to the UPS.
