I am unable to install Powerchute 3.02 on Windows 7 Sp1. I get error code 2884. I cannot find any listing for error codes in general. A search of this site as well as a google search produces nothing for error code 2884. There are no previous Powerchute installations.

You could try installing PowerChute on another computer, use that to disable the alarm, and then uninstall PowerChute.

Hi,
Error 2884 can occur when your operating system becomes corrupted. There can be many causes of this error including excessive startup entries, registry errors, hardware/RAM decline, fragmented files, unnecessary or redundant program installations. You may be able to resolve the issue by setting the system back to a known good state, run a good registry cleaner to correct any registry issue, or run a system check up.
Microsoft lists the error as "Failed to create a window for the dialog [2]" however they do not list a solution. Microsoft installer error codes can be found at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa372835(v=vs.85).aspx

Thank you for the reply but it is not at all helpful. I have had zero problems with the OS in the 4 years I have owned the machine. I have had zero problems installing any other software. I cannot use the unit BE550G because it wakes the entire house with piercing shrieks in the middle of the night when the power is off. There is no other way of turning off the shrieks except by installing the software. Apparently your product is an $80 paperweight.
