APC BX1500USB (XS) will not complete 'self-test?'

I bought this ups back in 2006. It is the first tall, thin APC ups I have owned. Lately, I have noticed that my system tray PowerChute icon has a yellow triangle w/exclamation point inside the triangle. I suppose this means some sort of error, yet PowerChute does not offer any more information. With no further information, and, the lack of 'self-test' ability, I can only conclude that this ups has a serious failure. Odd too, that it seems to run just fine otherwise. PowerChute reports the battery is fully charged and has an 84 minute runtime based on the ups's current load (142W). I'm pretty clueless ATM.

I have a BR1500G due here tomorrow to replace it. Any/all suggestions, opinions are welcome.

Thanks,

Duncan

Hi Duncan,

Are you trying a self test via the software and it is rejecting it? What LEDs are lit on the UPS?

Can you show me a screenshot of the software and what you're seeing?

Angela N.,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I am starting the 'Self-Test' from within PowerChute v3.0.2. I have no clue who/what is rejecting this request.

Yes, today I created 3 dot-jpg files that show what I see. I use Fastone v5.3 to capture these views.

I do not know how to upload these files to the APC forum, or, whether the forum can/will accept them.

I can try the /Insert Image/ logic if this is acceptable.

Thanks,

Duncan

When you're replying to this post, look on the top right of this box and select "use advanced editor" and then you'll see the attach files link to attach photos to the post. Alternatively, there is a little camera icon above where you type which can be used to insert images.
