AP7922: Error: The application was not able to load.

I am getting 'Error: The application was not able to load' when I tried to access it after updating the firmware with apc_hw02_aos392 package using SCP method. The SCP method seemed to be successful. apc_hw02_aos_392.bin and apc_hw02_rpdu_392.bin were copied acroos, and the PDU rebooted automatically after each of the 2 .bin files. Unfortunately the GUI interface was not accessible.

Below is the hardware details:

Hi Angela,

I managed to upload rpdu 3.7.4 successfully and am able to login through the GUI now. Many thanks for your assistance.

Will try to upgrade to 3.9.2 again soon.

Hi Antonio,

Based on what you've shared, I would try rebooting the PDU's management interface and then re-try the manual FTP push. If you were not aware, this reboot does not affect outlet status on the PDU.

You'll need to do this through the Telnet (or SSH) interface with the web being inaccessible. Log in via Telnet or SSH and then go to the System Menu->Tools->Reboot Management Interface and you'll have to type YES to confirm that. Then, let the PDU reboot and you can see if the web interface comes back as well. Then, proceed and re-try the upgrade via manual FTP like you tried to at the bottom of your post.

Hi Angela,

Tried SSH using PuTTY, and it returned:

Disconnected: Received SSH2_MSG_CHANNEL_SUCCESS for nonexistent channel 65536.

Any idea why I am getting this error? As far as I can remember, the PDU was setup using SSH, not Telnet.

If I used Telent, it returned 'Network error: Connection refused'. Do you know of any way to reboot the PDU without affecting the outlets?

Thanks again.

Regards,
Antonio

Oh, I found the problem with the SSH access.

http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA242581/

This is due to some incompatibility with newer PuTTy client versions and older SSH server versions in NMC1 products, this error message is received and access is not allowed. This will also likely affect WinSCP users since WinSCP and PuTTy share similar SSH and SCP code.

Unfortunately rebooting the management interface did not fix the problem. I logged in via SSH again and see the following screen:

American Power Conversion               Network Management Card AOS      v3.7.4
(c) Copyright 2009 All Rights Reserved  Rack PDU APP                     v3.9.2

------- Control Console -------------------------------------------------------

     1- Device Manager
     2- Network
     3- System
     4- Logout

     - Main Menu, - Refresh

Interestingly the NMC AOS is v3.7.4 while the Rack PDU APP is v3.9.2. I ran the SCP command again to upload 'apc_hw02_aos_392.bin' and 'apc_hw02_rpdu_392.bin' again, but the AOS stayed on v3.7.4.

I also tried 'Reset to Defaults Except TCP/IP' and the problem persists.

Tried the 'NMC Upgrade Tool v1.2' again and failed. But the result.txt shows the following error:

Not all Network Management Cards were upgraded successfully:

According to the System Info, my AOS is 3.7.4 and the latest version is 3.9.2. I could not find anything other version available between them.

Hi Angela,

Still working on it. Tried scp again, but it now returns 'Fatal: Network error: Connection refused'.

Can you also give me the aos 3.7.4 too?

Yes, I have been following FA156047 since day one. Thanks for the link.
