x series unable to onboard

I am unable to onboard/commission the smart wifi dimmer SQR226U1BKWM

Reset many times, 2.4 wifi, restarted router and iPhone, cleared cache.  Light is blinking as it should be, but never gets past setting up and eventually times out.  v26.3 iOS, tested on my iPad as well.   Tried to add in Apple home directly and similar issue...never completes "setting up"

hi @DanS ,

Sorry for the delay in the answer.

Due to some temporary issue with the application, we recommend you to use a Matter hub (such as Google Home or Amazon Alexa) to connect and control them.

Hi @DanS ,

Thanks for your post. We are sorry that you can't pair the dimmer with iOS/Matter. It is a known issue already reported by users and under analysis & correction by the team.

But i can't have a timeline for the correction release, i hope that you can use it through another manner.

hi @DanS ,

A new version of the Wiser Home system is under deployment (App version 7.5.0 and Hub 2nd Gen FW version 4.46.2) and included Matter improvements.

I hope that you can have time to test again your use case.

BR

Wiser Home isn't the app that we use, it is called SchneiderHome...that is what the directions in the product box said to use.

Are there any documents on how to setup the Matter hub?  I am also having an issue with pairing, just like Dan.  Have wasted 8 man hours trying to get this to work.  Have bought and configured an IOT wireless network on its own hardware in 2.4 GHz only to no avail.

There is nothing in the documentation regarding Matter hub.  These were purchased because they were supposed to be Wi-Fi complaint, and it turns out there are not.

Dan - did you go the Matter hub route, or did you box them all up and ship them back.  We're leaning on the latter as we have a high profile client and this isn't going to go over very well

I did use matter hub option. It was still frustrating getting the switches in discovery mode though.

Good morning Dan.

Looks like we have parallel problems. I bought a dozen of these for a smart home installation. I had eight hours of labor into this, trying to get them to work to no avail.

I even went out and Purchased a separate access point and configured it only for 2.4 GHz to only use for these devices. That did not fix it.

Several comments led me to believe that the only way I was going to get these to work was to buy a SmartThings hub. This is not what I wanted to do, but I ended up doing it anyway

I called for support and they sent me over to the wiser support folks. They told me there’s a bug in the software and that it is unresolved. They gave me no timeframe for a resolution. They told me to also buy a smart hub.

I bought the smart hub.  AEOTEC.  I literally plugged it into the network and came back 10 minutes later. I downloaded the SmartThings app onto my phone. I set up the account and on boarded the SmartThings hub. From that point everything was up and running within one hour.

I was able to onboard the hub and then the switches and then create routines for them. It did not take me long and the next thing you know everything was working.

Again, this is what I was trying to avoid. I did not want hub. I wanted it to work over WiFi and be done with it.

I bought the Schneider X series switches from Lowe’s online.  I went back to Lowe’s thinking I would just take them back and buy something else

So I decided to stay with The Schneider X series.

I then linked Amazon Amazon Alexa to SmartThings. Again, this only took a few more minutes. Within that one hour, I was able to tell Alexa to turn the lights on and they came on.

That said, all of the frustration of sitting there at a construction site on a stool trying to get these things to work was a waste of time. I should’ve just bought the SmartThings AEOTEC hub to begin with and been done with it. There are also some TP link devices that might be better.  But they’re not that much cheaper

I hope this helps because I’ve spent a lot of time banging my head against the wall.  I wish that Lowe’s would just simply take these off their website until Schneider gets their act together
