Is there any way to simulate a process task failure on M580 safety PLC?
My code currently has data that is being transferred between process and safety task. The purpose of the simulation is to demonstrate that process task failure does impact the operation of safety functionality.

You can create a fault which stops the process side but has no impact on the safety code execution. To do this create a loop instruction that does not end within the process side of the logic. Use a bool to trigger execution of the loop (which in the default state is off and does not execute the loop) however once triggered the first instruction is to reset the trigger bit and then enter the loop. The process logic should go into halt due to the watchdog time being exceeded. Resetting the bit is important as you may want to modify the process logic online while it is running and it is difficult to do this if it constantly trips.
