Serial communication stopped on PM5560

Hello,

Are there any situations where the PM5560 stops Modbus RTU communication?

I was conducting Modbus RTU communication tests between a master PC and a slave PM5560 when the response from the slave suddenly stopped.

I sent several request commands from the master side, but there is no response from the slave side.

Communication returned to normal after restarting the PM5560.

PM5560 version is V4.5.0, and the communication settings are correct.

Is there any reason why the PM5560 units would stop communicating?

Multiple PM5560 units are connected to the serial communication circuit, and two of them experienced the same issue simultaneously.

Best regards,

Miyai

Hi @Miyai

Under normal operation, the PM5560 should not stop responding to Modbus RTU requests. Could you please provide the following information?

  • What polling rate is being used?
  • What hardware are you using to communicate with the meters (for example, a USB-to-serial converter)?
  • How many registers are being read, and which registers are they?
  • How many devices are connected to the serial line? Are they all running the same firmware version and model?
  • What are the baud rate, parity, and stop-bit settings?
  • Did both PM5560 meters stop responding at exactly the same time?

Regards,
JD

Hi @Jesus_Diaz

What polling rate is being used?
⇒polling rate is one per second.
What hardware are you using to communicate with the meters (for example, a USB-to-serial converter)?
⇒Ethernet-to-serial converter.
How many registers are being read, and which registers are they?
⇒Since the system belongs to the client, I don't have the full details, but it captures standard parameters such as voltage and current, involving around 16 registers.
How many devices are connected to the serial line? Are they all running the same firmware version and model?
⇒Approximately 20 devices are connected to the serial communication circuit. These include products from various manufacturers. The PM5560 units on the same circuit are running the same firmware version.

What are the baud rate, parity, and stop-bit settings?
⇒The baud rate is 9600, with 8N2 settings.
Did both PM5560 meters stop responding at exactly the same time?
⇒Communication stopped at the same time.

Only the communication function was disabled; the meter's measurement display and other functions were operating normally.

Do you know the causes of communication function freezes?

I have already contacted Schneider's quality department, but I am having trouble because I haven't received a reply.

Best regards,

Miyai

Hi @Miyai,

Thanks for the information.

Has the client tried isolating the two PM5560s to see how they behave? How long does it take for this issue to occur, and how often does it happen?

@rohith-s @akash_das Do you have any suggestions for this case?

Hi @Jesus_Diaz

This incident occurred only once.
It is currently operating normally.
The communication interruption has not recurred.

Best regards,

Miyai
