PM8000 Digital Output at startup

Hello,

PM8000 Digital IOs expansion module, we realize that when meter does a powerup and at this point some output should be at one , all outputs relays are at OFF, even if the Digital output module (in Designer) is at ON (because of some condition). I found in ION reference guide for Digital Output that when a meter do a powerup , all force outputs are at OFF. The only way to make them goes OK is when some output condition change. Does the meter wait for a transition Rising Edge after a powercyle? Is there any way to make them be at the starting good status? Any idea?  Thanks

Hello @MaxRose ,

This is a very loaded question as there could be many different modules that can change the digital output state (but only 1 at any given time). For example the calibration pulse module could be linked to Port 1.So even if Digital output module is 1, the state of port is not changed until Calibration module changes the state.

Note that during power-up the outputs of the meter are non-deterministic. Only after the meter has finished initializing can we know for sure what the state ill be.

Thanks,

Finally I use pulse from Diagnostic module (the one that pulse after a power up) when meter power up to start a 10 sec timer.

In from of each Digital Outputs, I used  Setpoint (greater than 0) as an interface to get a Enable/Disable module (that Digital Output do not have), so all my logic are in front of the setpoints. When 10 seconds timer started , I Disable Setpoints module wich force every Outputs to 0 (OFF).

When Timer is done, I enable Setpoints and it does see transition from logic to 1.

I found that below 5 seconds it is risky to miss that pulse to the timer. So better longer o be safe.

Thanks

Hello,

Do you have a template you would be willing to share with me? I'd like to test this some time. No promises I'll be able to find anything.

Yes,

Here is framework, just add your logic in front of Setpoints.

I just don't know how to share or send framework on community. I can't attach it to message.

Please also attache the configuration of the module named "Port A D1".
Both the input link configuration and the setup registers.

Hello,

Are you able to start a tech support case? I would like to track this with a case to make sure this gets looked at.

Thank you,

Charles

Hello,

What type and how many IO modules do you have on this device?

I'll need this info to try and reproduce in house.

Hello MaxRose,

When I tested this on a meter at my desk, I setup a framelet to have a set point module, triggered from an external numeric, write to relay output of expansion IO module. When I powered up my meter I started a timer, after ~35 seconds, I heard the relay "click". Depending on the framework as well as firmware, this time could also change.

When you tested with your meter how long did you wait?
