Dear Expert,
I'm working on a project that uses the EM2357 as the energy meter. I’ve already established communication through the Modbus RS-485 port, with a PAS800L gateway at the end of the daisy chain.
My current issue is how to detect and configure each device’s Modbus ID, baud rate, and parity. As you know, the EM2357 does not have a display, so I can't check or modify these parameters directly on the device.

Looking at the user guide (EM2357 User guide ) I see the following section:
You can configure the setting parameters of the power meter through the RS-485 communication port
of the power meter.
The default RS-485 communication port setting has been configured when the power meter leaves
the factory. You must modify the default settings before connecting the power meter to the RS-485
network.
RS-485 port setting
The power meter has been configured as the default serial communication settings before leaving the
factory. You need to modify these default settings before connecting the power meter to the RS-485
bus.
The power meter has been configured to use the following default serial communication settings at
the factory:
• Protocol = Modbus RTU
• Address = 1
• Baud rate = 19200
• Data bit = E81 (even parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit)
To program this meter you must connect to the meter directly before installing on RS-485 network.

Hi @AdrianTirta Please see the attached snap of registers to be used for modification of ID, baud rate & parity. ID can be from 1 to 255, baud rate setting: 0 = 1200,1 = 2400, 2 = 4800, 3 = 9600, 4 = 19200, 5 = 38400 & parity setting: 0 = N81, 1 = E81, 2 = O81, 3 = N82. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response. I understand now that each meter needs to be configured individually before being connected to the RS485 network. However, I would like some clarification on the configuration process.
Should I configure the Modbus parameters directly on each device by connecting its RS485 port to my PC (using an RS485-to-USB serial converter), or do I still need to use the PAS800 for this process?
Additionally, which software should be used to modify the parameters? Can EPC be used for this purpose, or should I use ION Setup? If there is a specific application required for configuring the EM2357 devices, please let me know.
Could you please provide a step-by-step guide starting from how to properly establish the RS485 communication wiring, up to how to modify the Modbus parameters on each device?
I would like to understand the full procedure—whether I need to connect each meter directly to my PC using an RS485-to-USB converter or if the PAS800 is required, and which application should be used for configuration (EPC, ION Setup, or another specific tool).

I do not use the EPC tool so I do not know what devices the software supports. Modbus is a open protocol and there are many different tools that exist that support reading and writing modbus. If you are looking for details instructions I suggest reaching out to your local technical support.
In general, you connect to the device using Modbus software. There may be specific requirements to write to certain modbus registers, confirm with technical support on any specific instructions. Depending on the devices modbus register list you would write specific values to specific registers to set the configuration of the device. There will be a register for Device ID, one for baud rate and one for serial settings (Data bits, Parity, Stop bits, ex 8N1)
I do not have a modbus register list for the device, I suggest to reach out to your local technical support for that information.
