Launch Announcement – Firmware V4.7.1 for PowerLogic™ Advanced Meters
Launch Announcement – Firmware V4.7.1 for PowerLogic™ Advanced Meters
Introducing the latest release firmware release (Firmware V4.7.1) for the PowerLogic™ ION7400, PM8000, and ION9000.
This new release delivers two major features targeted at our critical power segment customers in datacenters and utilities. With the addition of MQTT and Subsynchronous Oscillation monitoring, the Advanced Meters continue to enhance connectivity and critical power system visibility with each firmware release.

More details on the top firmware changes found in the latest release:
1. MQTT Now Available Across the Entire Metering Platform (ION7400, PM8000, ION9000)
Firmware V4.7.1 introduces native MQTT support for all three product families—extending high‑speed, secure, and lightweight telemetry capabilities across the full metering lineup.
Key Advantages:
Fast, efficient data streaming: Publish samples from up to 30 high-speed sources per update.
Gapless Data: Publishes gapless, timestamped, half-cycle data into one second payloads.
Secure by design: TLS encryption with optional authentication.
MQTT dramatically simplifies integration with modern data platforms, cloud applications, and customer analytics systems—accelerating digital transformation across industries.
2. New Subsynchronous Oscillation (SSO) Monitoring
Firmware V4.7.1 introduces Subsynchronous Oscillation (SSO) monitoring available only on the PowerLogic™ ION9000. SSO events occur at frequencies below the fundamental system frequency and can pose risks to equipment stability, especially in environments with large-scale power electronics.
Key Capabilities:
Identifies the 10 highest‑magnitude subsynchronous frequency peaks below 50 Hz
Updates analysis every second using a rolling 10‑second data window
Fully configurable frequency groups to target system‑specific risks
Leverage ION to trigger waveform captures or publish data via MQTT or other protocols for real‑time diagnostics
Why This Matters for AI Datacenters
The rapid expansion of AI datacenters has increased the industry’s focus on grid‑interactive stability. SSO-related risks are growing as hyperscale facilities integrate more complex power electronics and interact more tightly with utility grids.
The new SSO monitoring feature in the ION9000 provides:
Early warning of potential system instability
Increased resilience for high‑availability compute environments
Adaptable for complex grid monitoring requirements
