ION74XX and PrimeRead compatibility

Need a Procedure to connect an ION7410 meter to PrimeRead from PrimeStone..

Local Utility is giving us Hell arguing that ION7410 meter cannot be used as a Revenue meter because it does not show on the list of available devices on the PrimeRead device configuration menu. 

As of today all ION7400 meters firmware V4.5 connect with prime read just fine. There is an issue with V4.6 and V4.7 do to change on the data recorder mapping on this newer versions, which I understand is been resolved. Although we have done test connect the ION7410, as welll as the ION7400E and ION7400A all using firmware v4.5 with PrimeRead successfully and without issues. This utility is making it difficult by arquing that it needs a certification from the manufacturer of the ION7410 o from PrimeRead indicating the procedure to add an ION7410 meter to it DB.

There old technical notes, from Power Measurements and Schneider for MV-90 and which indicates procedures both to configure the meter with ION setup and to connect the meter to MV-90..  Are there any such documents today for PrimeRead, since outside the US and perhaps Canada, PrimeRead seems to be the Norm nowadays.

Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

When the ION7400 meter firmware was updated in V4.6.0 to support up to 50 inputs for data recorders, PrimeRead was no longer able to extract onboard logs from the ION meter. PrimeRead is a software not made by Schneider however our team has been working with company that owns PrimeRead to help them update the driver to support the changes to ION meters. We cannot speak to their timeline, only help where we can.

If you need specific documents I suggest reaching out to your local Schneider contact to see if this is something they can help with or if they cannot help, they can possibly escalate to the global team.

Thanks Charles for your kind Reply. Your point is clear. But I estimate you missed my point. Let me try to reiterate:

PrimeRead only List meters model ION7400 when the list is pulled down on the configuration menu to instatiate a particular Metering Point. It does not list other variations of ION74XX meters, like ION7410, ION7400E, ION7400A, etc.. Because of this lack of models in the pull down list of the PrimeRead configuration Menu the utility argues that only the model or version ION7400 is certified by either Schneider Electric as manufacturer or PrimeRead as software developer to be compatible with the software PrimeRead.. 

Yet, we have done tests connecting various models of ION74XX with PrimeRead, using the ION7400 model presented on the pull down menu of the software, and as long as any of these models have firmware v4.5 installed they all connect ok and the software retreives the data recorders just fine. Yet the utility is hesitant to accept this method of connection under the arguement that the software does not list exactly the particular ION74XX model other than the ION7400. Therefore, they are requiring we present either a note o letter from the manufacturer indicating that all models of the ION74XX family v4.5 or earlier are compatible with PrimeRead, as long as they are connected to the software (instatiated) using the ION7400 option of the pull down list on PrimeRead configuration menu.

So that is what we are requiring to address this issue, which is significant, since, otherwise we limit considerably our options to compete with more economical versions of SEL 735, Shark 200, Nexus and other vendors in the Energy Market

I am not in a position to be able to give you that letter but I can say from a software perspective, the ION protocol does not change between different models of ION74XX. For software the main different between the different versions of ION7400 are the number of modules supported on the meter.

If you need a letter from Schneider I suggest reaching out to your local Schneider contacts. If they cannot write the letter for you they will escalate up the chain.
