Hi,
After having uninstalled the latest version of ION setup 3.2.26126.01, I can't reinstall it.
The installer prompt: install completed with error. Return code is ProductVersion.
I did everything which are describe, for the same issue, and posted on 2016 by Robert Lee.
I also tried to install the beta version, which was ok, and then tried update it by installing the last version but I have the same error.
Could someone help me about this issue
Thanks, Fred

Hi @Fred57
Missing Security folder indicates that the ION Setup installation did not complete properly. As previously stated, please follow the Procedure for complete uninstall and reinstall of ION Setup, ensuring you use a Windows account with full permissions and run the installer by right‑clicking the EXE and selecting "Run as Administrator.

Hello @Fred57,
Recommend getting in touch with your local technical support to start a case to troubleshoot this. Likely there is something in Windows Registry that did not get cleaned up during uninstall.
Regards,
Charles

Hi @Fred57
I was unable to reproduce the observed behavior after uninstalling and reinstalling ION Setup v3.2.26126.01 using Control Panel "Programs and Features" (tested on Windows Server 2022).
The registry before and after uninstalling the latest version of ION Setup is shown below:
Before:
After:
However I did not remove/delete all ION Setup related folders as mentioned in the following FAQ:
Procedure for complete uninstall and reinstall of ION Setup
If you have already followed the steps mentioned in the FAQ or similar posts but the issue was not resolved, as Charles mentioned, it is likely related to your Windows registry.

Hi @Fred57
If the upgrade is still unsuccessful, as recommended by the ION Setup developer, reboot the system into Windows Safe Mode and attempt the installation again.
Through the technical support case, please provide a copy of the installation log. This can be found either in the TEMP folder or in C:\Program Files (x86)\ION Setup\Setup Logs.
Always right-click on the installer EXE and select Run as Administrator instead of double-clicking the file.

-Mehran

Hi Mehran,
Thanks for your quick answer.
I tried the safe mode method, as administrator, but it did not work; the error is: InstallserviceFailure.
I had a look in the registry editor, searching for ION and there are a lot of ION bits everywhere in the directories, shall I remove them all?
You will find enclosed the install log file.
Hopefully it will helps.
Kind regards, Frederic

Hello @Fred57 ,
The content in the Windows Registry is very likely the cause of your problems. I would suggest making a backup of your registry then deleting everything in and including HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Schneider Electric\ION Setup.

Hello @Fred57 ,
Were you able to get your ION setup upgraded?

Hi Charles,
Yes, I could removed all ION string in the registry and installed ION 3.2 but I have a new issue now, the default user name (supervisor) and the password (0) are not recognized (unknown user). I tried also guest as user name but still the same.
I am a new user of ION Setup and I would like to connect to a ION 9200 meter already installed to modify logic input.
Can I do a preconfiguration on my computer without connection to the meter?
Thanks, Fred

Hello @Fred57 ,
PowerLogic Engineering Suite (PLES) does allow for some offline configuration. ION Setup does not. You will have to be connected to the meter to make any changes in ION Setup.
As for the default password, I suggest reaching out to technical support to help with that.

Charles

Hi @Fred57
Regarding the password, ensure that the C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\ION Setup\Security folder exists and contains the required files. The main file, SECURITY.DAT, stores the user credentials. If it is missing or corrupted, you can copy SECURITY.BAK (the default file containing supervisor/0) and rename it to SECURITY.DAT to reset the security settings to factory default.
Also, ensure that the Windows user you are logged in as has sufficient permissions for that folder. If you ran the installer by right-clicking the EXE and selecting "Run as Administrator," the correct permissions should have been applied.

Hi Mehrnia,
I followed the complete uninstall procedure and try to reinstall and now, I went back to the same error message ProductVersion.
I don't know what's wrong with my computer, I give up.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Frederic
