Hello! I work for a company that manufactures its own gateways to collect energy measurement data directly from utility company meters. In most cases, these companies use the same standardized protocol nationwide.
However, some utility companies use the PowerLogic ION8650 model for certain customers. In these cases, we need to acquire a third-party converter to translate the ION protocol to the national standard. Since the utility companies do not allow communication via Modbus with their meters, I would like to know if there is any way to obtain a technical reference for the ION protocol so we can develop our own converters, thus avoiding dependence on external competitors.

Hi @r_amico
PowerLogic ION is a proprietary, closed Schneider Electric protocol. The raw technical specifications and frame details are confidential and not publicly available for third-party converter development.
For formal driver development partnerships, please contact your local Schneider Electric representative to discuss potential NDA and developer licensing options.
As an alternative, please check if the utility can enable other native standard protocols supported by the ION8650, such as DNP3, DLMS/COSEM or IEC61850.
Best Regards,
-Mehran
