Differences in System Type Settings for the PM5560

Hello,

Are there any differences in the measurement items or values between the "3PH3W Dlt Ungnd" and "3PH3W Wye Ungnd" wiring settings on the PM5560?

I am checking the web screen and the Phaser screen, but I cannot see any difference.

Do the settings need to be separated for this?

Regards,

Miyai

Hi @Miyai

Your application appears to be well within the supported voltage range for both 3PH3W Dlt Ungnd and 3PH3W Wye Ungnd configurations. Therefore, it is expected that the meter would display the same line-to-line voltage measurements and a similar phasor screen in both cases.

However, the two settings are intended for different power system topologies and have different voltage ratings for direct connection:

3PH3W Dlt Ungnd (Ungrounded Delta):
Direct connection maximum: 600 V L-L (UL and IEC)
No line-to-neutral voltage reference exists in the system.

3PH3W Wye Ungnd (Ungrounded Wye):
Direct connection maximum: 347 V L-N / 600 V L-L (UL)
Direct connection maximum: 400 V L-N / 690 V L-L (IEC)
The system is modeled as an ungrounded wye network with phase-to-neutral voltage relationships.

Therefore, the wiring mode should be selected according to the actual electrical distribution system being monitored, even if the displayed measurements appear similar. Using the correct wiring configuration ensures that the meter applies the appropriate phasor relationships and voltage calculations for the installation.
