One-Line and Riser Diagrams

Good afternoon,

I was wondering how to go about substituting in our own symbols for the One-Line generation.  We sent out an email a while back asking about some of the features and were told that we would be able to, but have not really had the time to dive into it and figure out how.  Was hoping someone might be able to assist?

Re: One-Line and Riser Diagrams

Hi @MSchueler,

Customizing the LayoutFAST diagrams is simply a matter of editing the family.

  1. Select the symbol
  2. Click the Edit Family button
  3. Make the desired changes in the Family Editor
  4. Load the family into the project

When prompted, you will have two options:

  1. Save the updated family.  This will overwrite it where LayoutFAST will keep it stored on your PC.  Future use of the diagram tool will utilize your updated version.  (Note: the updated version will get overwritten when LayoutFAST updates are installed.  Users should keep a copy of updated RFAs in an alternate location.)

  1. Load the family into the project without saving.  This will update the family in the project only.  Future use of the diagram tool in other projects will utilize the original symbol families.

Please let us know if you have any other questions and thanks for using LayoutFAST!
