In projects with medium to large numbers of I/O points, engineers often face significant challenges when manually assigning and maintaining I/O channel mappings in EcoStruxure Control Expert. Manually configuring each channel is time‑consuming, error‑prone, and can lead to inconsistent naming conventions, making future modifications and long‑term maintenance difficult.
Resolution
To address these challenges, this article demonstrates a practical, structured approach for efficiently managing bulk I/O aliases using Microsoft Excel and EcoStruxure Control Expert.
This procedure uses aliases in EcoStruxure Control Expert and Microsoft Excel to efficiently assign multiple I/O channels to a Device DDT structure with minimal manual effort. It reduces engineering workload, maintains naming consistency, minimizes errors, and simplifies future changes and long-term maintenance of large I/O systems.
