Is it possible to perform simulation testing between EcoStruxure Machine Expert-HVAC and Vijeo Designer Basic? Specifically, can Vijeo Designer Basic be used to simulate or test HMI interaction with an EcoStruxure Machine Expert-HVAC application?

Hello,
Without the physical device(TM172), it is unfortunately not possible to run the HVAC software in simulation mode using a Basic HMI.
if there is physical device(TM172) answer is YES . Using a Basic or any other HMI, you can achieve this without a physical HMI, by using an HMI software running on Windows in simulation mode.
If M172 Modbus TCP will be used:
After completing the TCP configuration, you can control the real M172 device from the HMI software simulation by configuring the HMI side as a Client.
If M172 Modbus RTU (RS485) will be used:
In this case, the HMI side must be configured as Master. This allows the real M172 device to be controlled from the HMI software simulation.
If you will perform Modbus RTU (RS485) simulation:
The RS485 converter connected to the PC must be configured as COM2 via Windows > Device Manager. This is required because, on a real HMI, the RS485 communication is performed through the COM2 port, and the simulation must behave in the same way.
For Modbus TCP simulation over IP:
When you ping the TM172, it must be reachable, and port 15797 must be configured in advance via USB cable, web browser, or ESME HVAC software.
