Rekomendasi maximum Drop Voltage dalam instalasi diatur dalam IEC 60364-5-52:2009 Low-voltage electrical installations – Part 5-52: Selection and erection of electrical equipment – Wiring systems
Bisa dilihat dalam Annex / Lampiran G mengenai "Volrtage drop in customers installations". Nilai maximum drop voltage adalah 3 - 8 % tergantung tipe instalasinya dan peruntukannya (Penerangan atau lain lain).
Contoh :
Maximum drop voltage sebesar 3% untuk Penerangan (Lighting) jika disuplai dari Distribusi Listrik Umum tegangan rendah (PLN) dan maximum 6% untuk penerangan dengan suplai dari distribusi listrik tegangan rendah Privat.
Untuk penggunaan lainnya (selain penerangan) maximum drop voltage 5-8% untuk Distribusi Umum dan Private.
Dimungkinkan drop voltage lebih besar saat starting motor atau gawai dengan inrush current besar.

b is the coefficient equal to 1 for three-phases circuits, and equal to 2 for single-phasecircuits;
NOTE 3 Three-phase circuits with the neutral completely unbalanced (a single phase loaded) are considered a single-phase circuits.
ρ1 is the resistivity of conductors in normal service, taken equal to the resistivity at the temperature in normal service, i.e. 1,25 times the resistivity at 20 °C, or 0, 022 5 Ωmm2/m for copper and 0,036 Ωmm2/m for aluminium;
L is the straight length of the wiring systems, in metres;
S is the cross-sectional area of conductors, in mm2;
cos ϕ is the power factor; in the absence of precise details, the power factor is taken as equal to 0,8 (sin ϕ = 0,6);
λ is the reactance per unit length of conductors, which is taken to be 0,08 mΩ/m in the absence of other details;
IB is the design current (in amps);
