Question from live audience: Does it mean that Electrical Engineers have bright future prospects?
Answer: with electrification gaining ground on all aspects of our lives and in particular for buildings, Electrical Engineers will be needed more and more. You can count on Schneider Electric to support engineers even more.
Question from live audience: What impact will Artificial Intelligence (AI) have on employment?
Answer: AI will allow the Building Systems to learn from the building behaviour and improve the efficiency these systems provide. In terms of environment this will improve and will improve also the efficiency and comfort as well as safety of the occupants.
Like automation level is an indicator of an advanced & vibrant economy including on the job market, we can expect that the more IA is deployed, the more opportunities will exist although requiring educations and skills. Schneider Electric is very involved with educations initiatives.
Question from live audience: The cost to make a building more digital is still very high. How can you contribute as an industry leader to reduce this cost?
Answer: We realize that a CAPEX expenditure, to modernize and digitize a building in one move can be expensive. This is why we have designed our solutions and systems to be able to implemented over time, replacing sections of a building, whilst being backwards compatible and not disrupting the operability of the building.
Question from live audience: Electrical Vehicles (EV) use large sized batteries: what will be the long term impact on environment?
Answer: Battery industry is evolving and efforts in R&D across the planet are helping make batteries more efficient, recyclable and using materials in a sustainable way. Schneider Electric is leading the transformation of the industry in making sure our own process are fully focused on sustainability.
Question from live audience:What can we do to change the mindset of people to reduce energy waste?
Answer:Our company vision "Life is ON" is all about providing that what we need in terms of Energy in an efficient and effective manner - for everyone. With increased automation, energy waste can be mitigated and minimized!
Question from live audience:What is the future of solar power generation?
Answer: Solar is a good alternative in many countries to replace carbonated energies. Helping reducing CO2 emissions in energy generation and electrification of more processes is at the heart of Schneider Electric strategy and solutions.
Question from live audience:What is the possibility to have dedicated lanes for Electrical Vehicles (EV)? Can we imagine electrified lanes or would wireless charging technology be a better option?
Answer: Excellent question, to which we believe technology advancements will make the final decision. Wireless, with the right capacity and transmission would be ideal in terms of economic impact - installing physical cables and infrastructure will be far more expensive and would need to be economically and then environmentally evaluated. We strive to continue to find the best solutions for all.
Question from live audience: How do you plan to support electrical engineers?
Answer: We recommend that you connect to Schneider Electric Exchange to meet with peers & experts! This is an essential tool for all electrical engineers across the world, free to use of course, and helping you on all topics related to Energy Management. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Question from live audience: Is the global market ready to start boosting EPC projects after the second wave of Covid-19?
Answer: Very good question. From a market standpoint, it will vary by geography. We are seeing, even during the pandemic the continued drive towards improving the efficiency and safety of buildings - in fact we would say that in some markets, the pandemic has accelerated the need.
Question from live audience: Technology is becoming omnipresent in every human activity: what are you doing to minimize the technical complexity across various disciplines?
Answer:As the world is undergoing a massive digital transformation, it is true that the level of complexity is increasing, this is why alone we cannot thrive. Through the power of collaboration we are able to capitalize on the expertise of peers across the different fields to address the modern challenges. Schneider Electric Exchange is an open digital platform to support and promote exactly this.
Question from live audience:With this live session, what is your main message to the world?
Answer: Our message is that we have to adapt our approach to providing technical solutions to improving the energy efficiency and comfort/safety of buildings. At Schneider Electric we know that Power and Building Management Solutions are totally linked and need to be integrated. We are working with our EcoXperts from different competencies to either adopt new competencies or collaborate with other EcoXperts to be able to provide these new totally integrated Building Solutions - and this also includes Smart/Micro Grids.
Question from live audience:Innovations are good for the future, but how can companies cope with a post-pandemic world where investors are cautious?
Answer: Difficult to give you a definite number to your question, but as a whole we are meeting our targets but more importantly working very closely with new and existing customers who have realized that because of the Pandemic and the need to bring there employees back to a office style environment, means improving and modernizing their building systems, in particular in terms of environmental comfort and safety as well as having the data at their fingertips to be able to track, monitor and constantly improve. Investors are more and more looking at sustainability in the projects and companies they are interested in. Schneider Electric is showing the way as the world #1 sustainable company as per Corporate Knights Global 100 Index .
Question from live audience: Can iBMS react dynamically based on excess solar energy available to be stored in a thermal loop of some kind if it integrates with the EMS?
Answer: This sounds like an innovation our Master partners at AZZO could help develop!
Question from live audience:Is integration of various building management systems (BMS) through Internet of Things (IoT) technologies possible with Schneider Electric solutions?
Answer: Absolutely. Here at Schneider Electric we believe in truly open platforms and hence our solutions especially in BMS are IoT compatible making them interchangeable and also open to other IoT devices.
