OPC UA output points that cannot bind in the program

We integrated a Phoenix Contact PLC with an Enterprise Server using the OPC UA protocol. We shared input and output variables; writing directly to the variable works perfectly. However, the problem arises when I try to bind the point with the output of a function block  program, the system won't allow it. It is as if it views all the points as inputs. In fact, it lets me bind to the program's inputs but not to its outputs. Is it an issue with how they were shared by the PLC via OPC UA, or is there a way to change the points' properties so they actually appear as outputs?
