ITE Event Notifications

Hello,

We've just onboarded to IT Expert and have added 30 UPS devices.  Previously, we were configuring each devices individually and setting event action notifications through the web GUI via Configuration > Notification > Event Actions > By Group (Screenshots).

We'd like to disable all e-mail notifications from the local device and rely solely on ITE to send out Warning and Critical e-mail notices.  At this time, we no longer wish to receive Informational events.  How can we accomplish this in ITE without having to manually log into each UPS device to disable it?  Are there any other recommendations you think we'd benefit from?

You can either use a config.ini file with only the changes you want to make (ex: email=disabled) along with the iniutil.exe with the list of devices and push.  Or in ITE go to Device Configuration, 1. select a device to use as template, 2. make the change(s) you want (search for email), 3. select target devices, 4. review and apply,

As an added benefit, using IT Expert as your primary notification engine gives you greater control over alerting. You can define what is considered critical versus warning based on your business priorities and operational requirements. Thank you, both for the replies.  I'm not yet familiar with the config.ini process but I did end up changing the SMTP server to a fake address for the time being.  All devices showed successful, but we still had a handful that were still e-mailing.  Manually logging into those devices show the fake server address, but somehow e-mails were still being sent.  We removed the recipient on those few and now appear to be fine.  I'll take a look at the links as well.

Great information here for using the iniutil and how to configure.  While the GUI is great, there are certain things that are easier to adjust or modify with a config.ini file, especially if you have dozens or hundreds to do.
