Explain how to configure a user read read only access to all via rest

Hello, 

i have been provided a user   to try out the rest apis... 

After authentication  i m pretty sure that  the root query to start is to  get all assets  in the system. 

The query  is not failing  ( return code 200)   but the body is empty. 

Then i  collected the users  i can see and it is only myself with permissions null,  customerids null etc...

CAn any expert provide a guided steps for the administrator to configur my user  to  read everything   from rest access?
