DCE notifications vs local

I originally posted this in another forum, but it was not the right one, so hopefully someone here is able to help:

I've had access to dce for some time, but was never intended to be the primary admin, so I've really messed with it very little.

The question I have is - if you add a device into dce, is the thought that you would set up notification rules for devices there, and TURN off the local ones?  We've never really messed with rules in DCE, but it's sure a pain in the rear when a something happens on a unit - like a battery end of life warning, and you come in and there are 100+ emails from one device.  I would definitely like something more unified but want to make sure I understand the setup first.

It all depends on the corporate policy of a particular organization. In the vast majority of cases, when I add new devices to monitoring in DCE or IT Expert, I immediately apply the appropriate notification policy to them. After that, I disable the notification methods already configured locally on these devices to prevent their duplication. But there are organizations that want to leave this double notification for one reason or another that they consider critically important.
