Hi,
Kindly, i have a problem in a type of Generator (Caterpillar) with communication module (EMCP4).
After adding the generator as ModBus device into DCE, all signals from the generator can be read normally in DCE, except one signal "Generator Circuit Breaker Status" that cannot be even seen in the generator device sensors.
This problem occurred in 2 different sites (i.e: 2 different DCE servers), with 4 generator with same type of communication module and DDF.
I have tried a ModBus Scanner simulator to test/double-check generator signals >> same problem happened, all generator signals are read except the “Generator Circuit Breaker Status” signal that gives me an error "ModBus exception response from Slave Device".
Generator Device sensors (not showing the "Generator Circuit Breaker Status" signal)

ModBus scanner simulator error >>

Hi Momen,
The DDF appears to be functioning as expected – since the device is responding to a Modbus scanner with an error and not returning a valid value, no sensor is generated.
According to the attached register map (EMCP Modbus Register List Version 1[ECMP4].pdf, pg.13) that register is only supported for EMCP 4.4 units and not 4.2 or 4.3. If your unit is a 4.4, you may want to contact Caterpillar for further assistance.

Glenn Martin
