Hello @silviolcf,

Sorry to hear that your upgrade did not complete. At this point, the system will need to be recovered.  It looks like you have a DCE virtual appliance, so the steps would be the following:

If the system can be restored to a state prior to upgrade via a Snapshot:

1) If you have a snapshot of the DCE VM, restore it to bring the system back to a working state.  Note:  This is not a support backup method, but usually works to get the system back up and running to a state from before the upgrade.

2) Attempt the upgrade again, if the same issue happens, you will need to connect with technical support so long files can be gathered remotely to understand why the failure is occurring.

If there is no restore method available via Hyper-V or VMware ESXi:

1) Deploy a new DCE 7.9.0 VM: https://community.se.com/t5/DCE-downloads/DCE-VM-software-download-links/ta-p/446780

NOTE: If you do not set the same MAC address as the old system, you will need to contact technical support for license keys correction.  The MAC address can not be updated after the system first boots.  You must do this before the system boots up for the first time.

2) Ensure the resources of the DCE VM are the same as the old one and also meet the minimum specs: https://community.se.com/t5/Data-Center-Expert-Virtual/DCE-sizing-guide/ta-p/446647

3) Restore the 7.9.0 Data Center Expert backup to the new system.

4) If you have a method of performing a VM backup, it may be worth it to take one.  I would recommend shutting down the VM first, so that there is not an active database running for the snapshot.

5) Attempt the upgrade again, ensuring the verify the checksum of the upgrade file before uploading the upgrade file to the server.  Instructions on doing this can be found on the DCE 7.9.1 upgrade download page.

6) If the same issue happens, you will need to contact technical support for assistance with gathering log files and investigating why the upgrade is failing.

Kind Regards,

Cory

Hi Cory!

Thank you for your help.

I looked on the update page for version 7.9.1 but I didn't see how to do the checksum verification. Could you help me with that?

Thank you

Hi @silviolcf ,

The checksum value should be on the download page. This Dell video may be helpful in running a checksum:

Thanks,

Steve

The checksum of the exact file that you download would need to be compared against the listed value.  There is no extraction needed before running the checksum.
