It appears that alarm severity policies can only be based on the alarm name and not an alarm's description. We want to suppress alarm email for specific types of communications alerts but not all communication alerts. "A new device has been detected" doesn't need our attention, but other Device Communication Alerts very well may. Filtering for that phrase and reducing the severity to warning did not have the desired effect. Is there another way around this?

Hello @DKing,
There is currently no way to split out that alarm from other Device Communication Alerts.
It is recommended to upgrade your NMC3 based devices to alleviate some of these alarms, as outlined in: https://community.se.com/t5/What-s-new-in-IT-Expert/Frequent-communication-alarms-from-NMC3-devices-...
Kind Regards,
Cory
