Hi all,
I've been asked to look into whether we can retroactively add/update an acknowledgement comment to an already acknowledged alarm. The main reason is operators accidentally acknowledging alarms without adding comments. From what I understand, the answer is probably no but just want to ask around to be sure in case there was something I missed.
Allowing unacknowledging alarms was an option I explored, but it requires adding that permission to individual database objects. The system I'm working on has security inheritance broken in a lot of places so this is a massive task I'd rather avoid if possible.

The only thing I know that would technically be simple is have the operators switch to using the Response option instead of the Acknowledge with Comment option. Technically simple because habits are hard to change and they would have to change their habit of select Acknowledge with Comment. Also This is assuming tat Response is not already in use.

Hi Geoff,
Thanks. Unfortunately, the Response field is already used for another purpose so I cannot adapt it for this.
I think that rolling out Unacknowledge permissions may be my only way forward on this one.
