Issue
When using WorkPlace Tech 5.x, some menu bar selections in Microsoft Visio are missing. The Project and Application menu options do not appear in the top ribbon or menu bar.

Cause
Visio COM add-ins are affecting the display of WorkPlace Tech menus. With certain security settings, the WorkPlace Tech menus may not render when COM add-ins are enabled.
Resolution
Adjust the Visio security setting to disable COM add-ins:
- In Visio, open the Tools menu.
- Select Visio Options.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Un-check Enable COM add-ins.
- Close and restart Visio.
After restarting, the Project and Application menus should be visible.
Notes / Tips
- If you don’t see Tools → Visio Options, you may be in a different Visio UI layout; locate Options via File → Options and look for Security or Add-ins.
- If behavior differs across machines, compare Visio version/bitness and other add-ins that might be present.
- If the setting is managed by policy (greyed out), consult IT/GPO settings or test on a machine with local admin rights.
