Issue

Users encounter problems assigning entitlement licenses to AS-B and AS-P controllers in EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) 2022 (4.0) and later using Device Administrator.

Common symptoms include:

• Entitlement assignment fails.
• The assignment option is greyed out.
• No license product appears after the entitlement is added.
• "No valid license found" is displayed.
• The entitlement is visible in Device Administrator but cannot be assigned to the controller.
• A newly purchased license appears incompatible with the controller.

Cause

Starting with EBO 2022 (4.0), Schneider Electric introduced a scalable licensing model that decouples hardware and software.

As a result, two different licensing models exist for AS-P and AS-B controllers:

• Older controller hardware requires an Upgrade License.
• Newer controller hardware requires a Bundle License.

If an Upgrade License is purchased for hardware that requires a Bundle License, or a Bundle License is purchased for hardware that requires an Upgrade License, Device Administrator will not allow the entitlement to be assigned to the controller.

This is the most common cause of entitlement assignment failures in EBO 2022 and later.

Step 1

Find the Automation Server hardware part number from the controller properties or the controller label.

Do not rely only on the model name (AS-P or AS-B). The required license depends on the hardware part number.

If the entitlement has not been consumed or assigned, contact your local Schneider Electric Order Entry or Customer Care team to discuss returning the unused entitlement and purchasing the correct license.
