GCM Integration Slows After Niagara R2 UNC Upgrade from Version 431 to 5xx

Issue

After upgrading a Niagara R2 UNC from version 431 to 5xx, GCM objects update more slowly than before. Users notice delayed polling and sluggish integration performance.

Environment

• Niagara R2 UNC-520 (all revisions)
• GCM integration using GCMCommService

Cause

The station settings for GCMCommService may not be configured to recommended values after the upgrade. Older installations often retain legacy settings that do not align with current best practices.

Resolution

Review and adjust the following settings based on Appendix B of the Niagara Network 8000 Serial Driver Engineering Guide (F-27070) and Technical Bulletin 03_03:

1. GCMCommService Settings

   • Navigate to the General - Config tab of GCMCommService.
   • Apply recommended changes from Technical Bulletin 03_03.

     

2. GCM Object Poll Settings

   • Go to the Poll - Config tab of each GCM object.
   • Set cycleTime = 0 ms to synchronize the GCM's poll cycle with the GCMCommService.

     

   • Ensure both the GCMCommService and GCM object use the same cycleTime values.
