EBO Server license seat count presentation in Device Administrator is misleading

Issue

In EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) Device Administrator, a discrepancy may appear between the value shown in the Total column and the expected quantity of available licenses. In many cases, the Total column displays a value of 1, which can be misinterpreted as the license quantity rather than the number of activations available for an entitlement.

Environment

Building Operation Device Administrator (DA)

Cause

The issue is typically caused by a misunderstanding of how Device Administrator displays entitlement information. The Total column represents the number of available activations associated with an entitlement and does not represent the quantity of licensed features. The actual license quantities are displayed in the corresponding license feature columns. Additionally, different Device Administrator views (such as Product Licenses View and Entitlements Contents View) present entitlement information differently, which can lead to apparent discrepancies.

Resolution

Verify the entitlement details in Software Companion or the Schneider Electric licensing portal.

Review the information displayed in Device Administrator and confirm that the Total column is being interpreted correctly. The value shown in the Total column represents the number of activations available for the entitlement, not the quantity of licenses purchased.

To determine the actual number of licensed features, review the corresponding feature columns within Device Administrator.

Also verify which view is currently selected in Device Administrator, as the information displayed varies depending on the selected view:

  • Product Licenses View - Displays license quantities by product feature.
  • Entitlements Contents View - Displays entitlement activation information and associated content.

If the entitlement information in Device Administrator matches the entitlement details in Software Companion, the licensing information is functioning as designed and no corrective action is required.
