UPS Did Not Work During A Power Outage, But Functions Normally if Unplugged

APC Back-UPS Pro BR700G (RS 700)

I had a power surge at my house and my backup did not kick on, everything plugged into it lost power.  After everything rebooted, I unplugged my backup to see what happened and nothing turned off and the backup worked.

What would cause everything on my backup to reboot automatically during a surge but unplugging my backup does nothing?  Did my backup not switch on in time caused by the surge?

Nathan, I'm NOT an APC guy.... But these are just only my Opinion the FF:

- Are you changing your battery i.e. How old is your APC?  I think sometimes the AGE of your UPS is a Factor...I change UPS every at least maximum of 2 years ...as in i'm Buying a Brand New unit with a Brand New battery....I'm Scraping the whole Old UPS unit and NOT anymore/NEVER Tried replacing the Battery.... FYI, the cost price of a BRAND NEW UPS here in Manila are:

  A.) BX650Li-MS  is just only Php 2,050. Philippine Pesos or USD$ 44.56 American Dollars.

  B.) BX625Ci-MS is just only Php 2,859. Philippine Pesos or  USD$ 62. American Dollars.

- Is your UPS Directly Connected to the 220V on the wall convenience outlet? I prefer NOT to do that.....For me its like Sending a fully loaded  Aircraft Carrier ALONE and OPEN in a BATTLE WILDERNESS with NO EXTERNAL support coming from Battleship, Destroyers and Submarines (FYI, Check my Post  "BOSE and APC" see the Pictures of how i support them)
