SRT5KRMXLT Control board

I need to replace the control board on our SRT5KRMXLT. The part number is 5663E-Z. Is part number 5663G-Z interchangeable? TIA!

I strongly advise against a self-repair on the control board. At this stage, you are dealing with aging power electronics, and performing an unauthorized board swap introduces unnecessary risk to your environment. By modifying internal components, you void the unit's original safety and compliance certifications, which creates a significant liability for your infrastructure should a failure occur.

Rather than increasing your risk profile with a DIY fix, I recommend pursuing a unit replacement or a Trade-UPS option to ensure you maintain a fully certified, reliable unit in your rack. If you are managing multiple units, the Comprehensive Protection Plan (CPP) offers a strategic way to manage this. This plan allows you to redeem credits for APC Factory Recertified units that arrive with brand-new batteries and a two-year factory warranty. This path is safer, more sustainable, and ultimately more cost-effective than attempting component-level repairs on aging hardware.

Factors for Replacement

  • Beyond the 6-Year Mark: While units can be maintained, once a UPS is more than 6 years old, it is considered out-of-warranty.

  • Rising Risk: Continuing to use aging units without maintenance represents a significant risk to your data, network, and overall investment.

  • Maintenance Expenses: If you are finding yourself frequently managing waning batteries or dealing with recurring repairs, it is often more cost-effective to utilize a program like the Comprehensive Protection Plan (CPP) to acquire factory recertified units instead of continuing to invest in an aging, failing chassis.

Strategic Management

Rather than deciding based on a single arbitrary age, it is more effective to assess your entire fleet:

  • Perform a Risk Assessment: Contact your Schneider Electric representative for a free risk assessment of your UPS fleet to determine the appropriate amount of coverage needed to meet your proactive service goals.

  • Leverage Flexibility: Through the Comprehensive Protection Plan (CPP), you can use a "bucket" of credits to redeem services for any UPS in your fleet that requires attention, whether that means a replacement unit or new batteries.

  • Consider Sustainability: If you have an older fleet, replacing units through the CPP allows you to receive APC Factory Recertified Smart-UPS units with brand-new batteries, which saves up to 50% over the cost of purchasing new while simultaneously reducing landfill waste.
