After receiving a couple spam emails this morning and blocking the senders, I Googled my email address and the only result that had my email address in it, was my profile on this website. My email is confidential, but you require it to sign up and I was never made aware that it would be publicly posted. Publicly posting someone's email address is as good as sending them a mail bomb packed with junk mail. Please be more responsible and remove that from the profile pages. I changed my email on there to a fake email address now and I'll bookmark this thread to periodically check if you need more info. PHPBB3 is the best choice for forums if you don't know how to edit the code for the profiles. If you download Notepad++ and do a find in files on your website files, you can easily find that page's text without much searching.

I signed up and since I read this post I specifically set my address to hide in the signup. Then I logged on and it had reset to show.
Please make the default as hide.

i believe it is an option to hide your email address within your profile, as i do with mine..you need it to sign up to activate your account to begin posting but that is all it is needed for.
i can hide yours for you as I agree, it is not a smart idea to keep it public due to spam issues.
