I have a BN1350M2 battery backup, and when I lose power, instead of the backup kicking on, I get a F02 or F06 error. The device will then beep loud and flash the error until I reset it. How do I fix this? It won't provide power when this happens, which is kinda the point of providing power when the electricity goes out.

A F02 code is an output short on the system which commonly means whatever device is connected may be failing and shorting out.
The system is detecting this problem and declaring this fault.
Generally speaking, it’s rarely ever anything connected to the unit that (IS) shorting out but points to other unrelated problems / factors.
A F06 is a relay weld hard fault and normally can’t be resolved by the end user besides replacing the entire unit.
Those who are technically inclined can simply replace the offending relays in question or send it into a repair facility to do the same.
A relay weld condition is very common in these units as they are not designed very well to sustain rapid transfer from line to battery when the input power is considered *Dirty*.
Meaning, if your area is prone to electrical disturbances where the system constantly engages the battery only circuit in rapid succession. This scenario causes the internal relays to open / close repeatedly which causes contact arcing.
This contact arcing causes carbon / pitting of the relay contacts. Which then make the armature in the relay to stick or weld open / closed depending upon type of relay.
If the hardware is still under warranty please do contact APC Technical Support to initiate an RMA. If the hardware is no longer covered by the 2-3 year warranty than the options are to repair / replace the unit with something else.
You may review the full used manual here and the error codes and action items / next steps as outlined:
NOTE: Should you decide to purchase another UPS. Best practice is to adjust the AVR & Battery Only circuit to the widest acceptable range which balances protection vs reliability.
