If the above procedure does not yield any positive results you’ll need to contact APC Technical Support to initiate an RMA.
Have ready the serial number, purchase receipt, and brief description of the problem, active fault, error code.
NOTE: Support will ask you to complete the brain dead reset as part of the troubleshooting process. They may also ask you to press the breaker button a few times so do so now.
You’ll want to measure the line voltage with a True RMS Multimeter if available. This would affirm the current AC Voltage at the location.
Follow up with measuring the DC Voltage at the RBC (Replacement Battery Cartridge).
The first test measurement will be with the RBC connected to the system while AC Mains is connected and the unit in the (On) state.
Follow up by removing AC Mains from the wall outlet. Remove and disconnect the RBC and measure the DC Voltage at the battery terminals and report all the values measured here.
Leave the RBC out on a table for 72 hours. After 72 hours or longer measure the DC Voltage and report the measurement here.
A healthy 100% charged RBC will be 12.8 ~ 12.9 after the surface charge has dissipated and will drop only 0.1 -0.3 VDC.
Depending upon ambient temperatures and health you may also see 13.XX VDC which is very healthy after 72 hours or longer.
If however after 72 hours the initial charge drops say from (1 ~ 3 volts) 12.8X -> to 12.6X and below report this finding.
As it indicates a failing RBC . . .
NOTE: A voltage measurement is the most basic measurement. It is (NOT) the final indicator or determinator.
A load test and measuring the internal resistance coupled with voltage measurements offers a better understanding of the overall health of the RBC.
