I have an old Back-UPS 650, the battery is dead. With the Battery removed should any of the lights on the front display light up when plugged into the wall?
Trying to figure out if this thing works and worth buying a battery.....
When I plug it into the wall the surge outlets work but of course not the battery side, but no LEDs on the front come on, not even the bad battery one.....

What is the EXACT model number of the ups and serial number
Do you have access to a decient mulitmeter or preferably a true RMS meter
If so what is the voltage of the battery

The model number is BP650S. I do have a nice Fluke 115 True RMS digi voltometer, and the batter is dead dead. Its not even installed, I've already recycled it.
My question is regarding the 4 LEDs on the front panel. Should they light up with no battery?

Hi Bob,
I was able to locate the user manual for this UPS, you might want to check it for your reference. [BP650S User Manual|http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z7UY5_R0_EN.pdf].
Basically, the BP650S would not turn on unless a good working battery is installed. Which means that the Front LEDs would not illuminate as well.
