Hi! If we keep the vents clear, can we install a BR1500G on its side, or does it need to be mounted vertically? For example, can we mount it on its side as long as it is on a vented rack shelf?

So long as you plan to keep the ventilation openings clear, as you have indicated, there will be no problem. There are no position sensitive parts in your UPS, and the batteries are sealed.
