SUA3000RMI2U Wont Turn On

Hi all

I have just got a SUA3000RMI2U and purchased new battery's for it and get 50+ volts from them currently.

When I try to switch it on I get a blip sound and nothing else no LEDs etc.. Power is getting to the main board but I cannot locate any Schematics for it to troubleshoot further

I know it's an old unit but you just work with what you have.

Can anyone suggest any possible known issues or components on these that can fail easily I could look too?

Regards

This really comes down to how much time you want to invest into this very old legacy device.

As your unit is 18 years old and that specific model has numerous problems. Your options are to fault find every common failed component such as capacitors, relays, fuse, power transistor etc.

Other options are to use the APC Trade-UPS program to offset the cost on a new system. Purchase a refurbished unit from any of the third party sellers.

Lastly, buy a used system on eBay but upgrade to a SRT, SMX, SMT with a newer year and the ability to upgrade the UPS firmware offering a LCD Menu and more features.

What is the serial number of this unit you’re talking about?

The useable service life depending upon model and production year is 7-10 years.

https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FAQ000265093/

Connect the system to a computer running APC Power Chute Software or 3rd party like: APCUPSD / NUT.

Call out the active faults / errors present. If the system has a NMC installed upload the following logs for review: Event, Data, UPS.

Show me a photo of the LED display while the system is connected to AC Mains.

Take a video of you turning the system on and focus on the LED display than provide a link to view the same.

Next, take a True RMS Multimeter and measure the output outlets and report the AC value. Follow with setting your meter to DC volts and measure the voltage at the battery terminals while connected to the system.

Disconnect the battery terminals and measure just the output from the systems charging cable and report back the value.

Show me a photo of the rear of the system. On the rear of the unit is a breaker whether it be a button / switch push / toggle it a few times.

If the system has an EPO terminal block insure it’s (NOT) connected to anything and remove the phoenix connector if present.

Cold Start: Insure the battery cartridge is fully charged before proceeding. Follow the steps on page 12 to initiate a cold start of the system and report back the results:

Hi thanks for the reply SN is JS0708008666

When the battery is connected there is 51.8V to the board. Connect the mains which also arrives at the board.

The unit doesn't do anything apart from a quiet blip. No LEDs on the front control panel at all.

I am assuming there is a faulty component on the board but never really had any exposure to UPS boards.

Regards

Christopher

Hi

I can't answer the other questions as the unit will not power on so the management card isn't live and I cannot get the PC to talk to it.

Connect the system to a computer running APC Power Chute Software or 3rd party like: APCUPSD / NUT.

It's connected but no communication at all

Call out the active faults / errors present. If the system has a NMC installed upload the following logs for review: Event, Data, UPS.

No faults as there is no connection

Show me a photo of the LED display while the system is connected to AC Mains.

As per the attched
Take a video of you turning the system on and focus on the LED display than provide a link to view the same.

There is no LED screen

Next, take a True RMS Multimeter and measure the output outlets and report the AC value. Follow with setting your meter to DC volts and measure the voltage at the battery terminals while connected to the system.

There is no output voltage

Disconnect the battery terminals and measure just the output from the systems charging cable and report back the value.

0

Show me a photo of the rear of the system. On the rear of the unit is a breaker whether it be a button / switch push / toggle it a few times.

As attached, pressed the breaker but it is already in

If the system has an EPO terminal block insure it’s (NOT) connected to anything and remove the phoenix connector if present.

Nothing connected to it

Cold Start: Insure the battery cartridge is fully charged before proceeding. Follow the steps on page 12 to initiate a cold start of the system and report back the results:

It does 1 very quiet blip and the second press for 3 seconds doesn't do anything
