If I recall properly, the SU and SUA units in the VA range you are dealing with are both 48 volt DC units and both use "blue Andersons" (designated for nominal 48 volt DC use by Anderson and adopted by APC). However, I believe the SU/SUA units use different buss set ups and the "blues" are different amperes rating (to the best of my memory - I don't have both units in front of me) and therefore don't connect.
IMO, if you are careful about two things - 1. Compatible connectors that match the amperes required are utilized and 2. You set the charging circuit of your UPS for the correct number of actual battery packs, you should be OK. Be super careful in causing any mismatching any of these connectors as both the nominal voltage AND amperages must be proper.
BTW, I know that the battery trays are NOT compatible in the SU48 and SUA48 units.

As far as I could determine from APC's website, it looks like the SUA48RMXLBP3U uses two (2) RBC27 batteries. It also appears that the SU2200RMXL3U uses an RBC27 as well.
Do you desire to replace batteries or are you moving them around from unit to unit?

im looking to extend the run time of my current UPS(s) SU2200RMXL3U/SU3000RMXL3U. The battery pack used for the model of UPS i currently have is discontinued (SU48RMXLBP3U). So i was hoping to be able to use the SUA48RMXLBP3U battery pack on my UPS to extend the run time.
regards

There are a couple of used SU48RMXLBP3U units on eBay, some with new batteries but, other than that, your question is "above my pay grade" and I am unable to help much at all.
Good luck!
