I just purchase a new SMT1500C. I have it connected to the Internet and connected to my PC via USB. I installed PCBE v10.0.02 on my PC to communicate with the UPS via USB.
If I disconnect and reconnect the USB cable the APC will be detected by PowerChute. But within a few minutes PowerChute will report a lost connection with the APC. The only way to fix this it to disconnect and reconnect the cable again. I tried connecting the USB cable to different ports on my PC.
I've looked this up via the Internet and this appears to be a common issue for other APC UPS owners. I didn't expect this to be an issue with their latest SMT series.
Does anyone know what's going on here? I've owned many SUA and SMT units and I've never had this issue.
1 - Disable Green Mode on the SMT. To do this from the LCD panel go to Configuration - Green Mode
2 - Disable Selective Suspend Settings within the OS power options. To disable USB selective suspend open the control panel. Go to power options, select change plan settings, change advanced power settings, USB settings
3 - Hold the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for 6-7 seconds. The display flashes to indicate that the comm interface has restarted.
