Receiving the "The Application Was Not Able to Load" message after failed ON-1571 firmware upgrade

Greetings
I have an APC SCL500RM1UNC Smart-UPS with an integral ON-1571 network management card.  I tried upgrading the ON-1571's firmware to 2.5.3.2 but the firmware upgrade utility stopped with the following error:

[05/05/2025 11:33:38] NMC Firmware Update Utility v1.0.4 initialized.
[05/05/2025 11:33:54] Downloading and verifying configuration file from 10.***.***.***, please wait...
[05/05/2025 11:33:55] Firmware distribution does not match target device platform; this could be due to a corrupt distribution.
[05/05/2025 11:33:55] Uploading firmware file 1 of 1: Firmware Image to 10.***.***.***, please wait...
[05/05/2025 11:33:55] Unable to update device 10.***.***.*** with Firmware Image; stopping all further processing of this device!

I can still SSH into the card.  Here's the About info from that:

Solved the issue by

SSH into NMC

Enabling ftp on NMC

Using ftp to put

apc_hw21_su_2-5-4-4.nmc3

onto the ON-1571 NMC.  After rebooting the NMC, I was then able to successfully run the v2.5.4.4 Firmware Update Utility.  The key is that this model ON-1571 NMC is only compatible with _su_ firmware.  I had tried to upgrade to a _sucan_ version and that's what caused the corruption initially.

Attached is a screenshot of the error message I get now when trying to access the UPS's web/GUI management page in a browser.

Based only on the information you have provided it sounds like you installed the wrong NMC firmware version.

Depending upon when the unit was produced / purchased the system could have had a NMC 2 vs NMC 3.

The 2.5.X.X branch is for the current NMC 3. The 7.X.X branch is for the legacy end of life NMC 2.

You’ll need to identify which embedded NMC is on board the unit. Worst case you can try uploading the latest NMC 2 7.2.0 firmware branch and report back the results.
