Hi All,
We bought a new APC UPS around 3 weeks ago and installed PowerChute Windows Agent, Server and Console from the CD provided (v9.0 I believe).
Our configuration is as follows:-
SUA1500I Smart-UPS, interfaced via its USB connection
Windows SBS 2011 Standard, 64-bit, SP1
Everything worked fine but the PowerChute Console recently suggested I should download a later version of the software (Business Edition v9.1.0) but this just hangs on installation. When I click on the Update button (for Windows Agent) a popup message appears saying "Checking for the presence of a UPS" but just sits there indefinitely without appearing to do anything, other than stopping the APC PBE Agent in Services(Local): and unlike with the original CD, there does not seem to be the option of specifying the UPS manually. I also tried right-clicking on the installation file (pcbesetup.exe) to run it as an administrator but this made no difference so any ideas please?
TIA
Howard

Thanks Bill,
As there are no major benefits in making the change, for the time being at least I think we'll just stay with PCBE 9.0.1

Howard

Howard,
Stop the PowerChute services, uninstall PCBE 9.0.1, download PCBE 9.1 from APC.com PowerChute Business Edition - Product Information and run the installer.
Another option is to stay with PCBE 9.0.1.The significant differences between PCBE 9.0.1 and 9.1 are for SMT and SMX model UPS so you will not see any difference between 9.0.1 and 9.1 with the SUA.
