MGE Galaxy PW 225KVA UPS and SNMP OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.705.1.4.1.0

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the following SNMP OID. The MIB does not provide much detail on what exactly it does or is used for.

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.705.1.4.1.0

OID Name: upsmgConfigBatteryInstalled

Presently both our units show that this is coming up as "no(2)" and the description is "The battery installed status". Now I know batteries are installed in these units. 80 batteries each unit to be exact and they do carry the load when there is a power outage.

So my question is what exactly does this OID do and will it cause any issues if I set it to "yes(1)"?  I understand that the value is actually 1 or 2, but just providing the MIB presented values.

Thanks for taking a look and assisting.

Best,

-Troy

Hi Troy,

That section of the MIB is configuration of the UPS and cannot be configured from SNMP or Modbus.  A Field Service Engineer (FSE) has to connect to the UPS to configure the setting to you are asking about.  I recommend having the FSE review the configuration on the next maintenance visit.  You state that the UPS hold the load on battery, so the UPS is function normally.  If the UPS display shows the correct runtime or battery percentage then the battery information in the UPS is configured but that setting might have been missed.  If you do not have correct runtime or no runtime then the battery information is not configured in the UPS and should be reviewed by a FSE.  Presently I don’t see any issue as the UPS functions correctly on battery.

Best regards,

Stacy
