Can we please bring back the old system tray only PowerChute?
Can we please bring back the old system tray only PowerChute? The new PowerChute Serial Shutdown has become a Windows service, a web engine, web port requirement, and overall attack vector that I see has 18 CVE's already? https://www.cve.org/CVERecord/SearchResults?query=%22powerchute%22
If I were a Small-Medium Business I could see this as useful. Being a retired network engineer who just wants to protect his PC I see all of these new additions as serious attack vectors. Is there any chance of reskinning the old PowerChute system tray executable app with your new Schneider Electric marketing image? I don't need to be hosting a web service for my PC, nor will I ever open port 6547 on my firewall. All I want is to be able to adjust the UPS sensitivity to 'medium' which I cannot do without PowerChute.

That won’t happen as such your options are use PCSS as is. Obtain the last release of PCBE / PCPE legacy software or use third party software application such as NUT.
If the system is connected to a Back-UPS, the system tray will display the PCSS icon.
As for opening port 6547 when installing PCSS your are given the option of opening the port or not. If you do not open the port only the local system can access the PCSS interface.
Connect to a Smart-UPS
Connect to a Back-UPS deselect create a user account and port 6547 cannot be assess remotely.
Or with a Back-UPS if you prefer to create a user account you have the option to disallow remote access via port 6547.
